Shikokuchuo City is located on the eastern edge of Ehime Prefecture and was merged from 2 cities, 1 town, and 1 village in April 2004. The city's name translates to "Central Shikoku" since it borders Kagawa, Tokushima, and Kochi prefectures. The northern part of the city is lined with many factories that make Shikokuchuo Japan's top paper manufacturer. The southern side of Shikokuchuo is made up of the Hoho Mountain Range that runs east to west and rising up like a folding screen. These mountains connect to the greater Shikoku Mountain Range that run along the border with Kochi Prefecture. Shikokuchuo experiences all four seasons but the climate is typically warm and mild.
